The Jewish Museum & Archives of British Columbia & Chabad of Downtown present a historic walking tour of Jewish Strathcona & Gastown
Sunday, July 19th, 2009
from 10:00 am to 12:00pm
This two hour tour offers insights into life in the heart of the early Jewish community in Vancouver. Landmarks include the Sons of Israel Synagogue, the Neighbourhood Home of the Council of Jewish Women and the Oppenheimer Warehouse.
Tour meets at 700 E. Pender Street and Heatley Avenue in Strathcona, in front of the old Sons of Israel Synagogue.
Please join us after the tour for a BBQ at the home of Rabbi Bitton & Mrs. Malky Bitton 633 Prior Street and celebrate the presence of Jewish life in downtown Vancouver.
Tickets:
Individual Rates – $10 & includes a copy of the booklet, In the Footsteps of Jewish Vancouver – 1886 to 2006.
Group Rates- $75 for parties of 8 to 10 people.
Donations are kindly requested for refreshments as well.

Tour reservations and tickets can be arranged by calling the Jewish Museum & Archives of BC at 604.257.5199, or by visiting the Museum at 3rd floor of the Jewish Community Centre at 950 West 41st Avenue, Vancouver, BC. Tickets can also be purchased with cash at the start of the tour.
